Student-Generated Teaching Materials

Students can create products that take the form of instructional materials. A scoping review was carried out to map research field student-generated teaching materials, focusing on product types, information sources, learning-related matters, and researchers’ explanations. Based 280 articles, four types were identified: audio/visual questions, texts, educational games. Studies gathered from creation, use, participants’ perceptions, learning outcomes. Socio-cognitive motivational matters for creators users reported concerning subject matter, cross-curricular competencies, academic emotions, engagement. In these studies, researchers interpreted their findings based nine different explanations: active learning, audience effect, knowledge building, by teaching, processes, peer role ICT, scaffolding, time-on-task practice effect. Different lines future are discussed, related stages areas, designs, relationship between practice.
